Spring Break Massacre, Monsters From the Vault, Argento's Dracula 3D 3/2/11

Here we go… the first one. I’ve not gotten around to setting up a section on GOBLINHAUS to post these yet, so what you’re looking at here; is a FrightPlace exclusive. Impressive huh?

Horror Realm’s “Spring Break Massacre & Zombie Gras” is this Saturday, March 5th at the Crown Plaza in South Pittsburgh, PA. They are having a mini reunion from George Romero’s “Day of the Dead” which will include Lori Cardille, Antone’ DiLeo, and… Martin himself, John Amplas.

The new issue of Monsters From the Vault (#28) is out now. It’s a thick stock and glossy printed beauty with articles on the 75th birthday of “The Bride of Frankenstein,” John Barrymore, and some really cool and rare later date pictures of Bela Lugosi as Dracula on stage… at a junior high school. Order yours at www.monstersfromthevault.com.

HAuNTcon event tickets are on sale now. The touring convention will be held in Louisville, Kentucky this year. Events on sale include seminars and a Mega tour of TEN haunted attractions on April 27-28th. Most are limited, so if you’re interested, check them out HERE.

You won’t find a bigger Dario Argento fan than me. Suspiria and Deep Red are two of the best movies ever. Period. Ever. But that being said, I’m freaking terrified of this Dracula 3D thing that he’s doing. Something just does not compute for me here. Even with the announcement of Rutger Hauer being cast as Van Helsing which leads me on one hand to imagine a really dark and dirty vampire tale, on the other hand I think of Blade Runner, modernized (uh… 3D? % #$*!!), sci-fi type of thing. But what it boils down to, really, is the biggest red flag here: Argento’s Phantom of the Opera. Hoo boy. Shooting is set to start in May.

Here’s something for your walls. The new version of Famous Monsters of Filmland is selling giclees of their cover art, some of which is pretty dang great (especially the Basil Gogos Lugosi). So if you’ve got an extra $120 to spend, you can buy them here: Captainco.com.

You can enter to win a 3-Day Pass to the 2011 Telluride Horror Show in October. To enter, find their Facebook page and post who you'd like to see as a Guest Director. (Last year's Guest Director was Tom Holland).

I guess that’s it for now, jump in the pool! And remember, be kind. Rewind.
